Spring Open House & Service Learning Night
May 1st from 5:45-7:15pm
Please join us for a night of projects to help out our Slade and Laramie communities. We will be making care packages for children who have cancer, blankets for the fire department, writing letters to our service men and women, planting flowers for the elderly, and working in the Slade Garden. What a great night to talk with and work along side teachers for great causes. We hope to see you there!

The Book Fair will be in the Slade Library Mornings: 7:30 - 7:55 am , Lunch Hour 11:30 am - 12:30 pm and After school 3:05 - 3:30pm. What's Common Core All About?
You've probably heard about this "Common Core" thing. If you haven't already, you will hear about it more and more in the coming months as Wyoming adopts Common Core standards into our everyday school practice. To start, here are a few common questions about Common Core from the State of Wyoming.
Here's a quick video that helps to understand Common Core in a different way:
We'll be talking more about Common Core throughout this year!
Child Identification Kits
The Laramie Police Department has provided Child Identification Kits with finger printing instructions, personal information, and a place for photograph. You may pick these kits up in the Slade School office during our regular office hours.
Why Should I Practice My Reading?
Whether this chart is 100% accurate or not, the sentiment is very true! Students who practice their reading become better students. It's as simple as that. When you think about it, this it true for ALL of us in every aspect of life.
A teacher friend of mine regularly tells families that you "Don't become a piano player by sitting on the piano bench." Also, a person doesn't "...become a great baseball player by putting on the uniform." The idea is this- you must practice each to improve.
If your goal is to become a successful student, then reading on your own is not an option! Practice in school is not enough. Regular practice- even in the summer time- is a must!
